How many will I need?
There is no scientific equation or exact science to working out how many you will need however on average I use between 80 -100 strands for a full head.  This differs depending on how thick your hair is, how you hair is cut, and how long your hair is.  It also depends on what outcome you are after eg: a thicker look, a more mullet look, a layered effect.  Below is a list of different scenarios and their approximate amounts.

If  your hair is thin and below your shoulders, you will need approximately:
70 – 90 strands ($315 - $405)
If your hair is average and below your shoulders, you will need approximately:
80-90 strands ($360 - $405)
If your hair is thick and below your shoulders, you will need approximately:
90 – 110 strands ($405- $495)
If your hair is thin and shoulder length, you will need approximately:
80-90 strands ($360 - $405)
If your hair is average and shoulder length, you will need approximately:
90 – 110 strands ($405- $495)
If your hair is thick and shoulder length, you will need approximately:
100 – 120 strands ($450- $540)
If you hair is thin and above your shoulders, you will need approximately:
90 – 110 strands ($405- $495)
If your hair is average and above your shoulders, you will need approximately:
100 – 120 strands ($450- $540)
If you hair is thick and above your shoulders, you will need approximately:
120 strands + ($540+)

Also be aware that blunt haircuts need more strands than wispy and layered haircuts, as the ledges are harder to cover. Please be awarethat the above figures are to be used as a guide only, all numbers are approximations. If you have your own specific number of hair extensions you require we can certainly work with that. I can install as many or as few extensions as you require.

How long does it take to install these extensions?
It takes about 1.5 - 2 hours to put in depending on how many you have.

What happens as my hair grows and the bonds move down?
You need to have them moved up to their original position every 6-8 weeks to prevent matting, this costs $100.

How do you match the colour to my hair?
I have over 27 colours available in stock all the time.  I will either have the exact colour or something very similar.

How are the extensions installed?
By looping your hair through a tiny copper ring, sliding the extension bond alongside your natural hair and simply clamping down the ring around the two.

What is a “move up”?
After the extensions have grown down overtime they are moved back to their original position against your head every 6-8 weeks.

How long do I wait between “move ups”?
No more than 6-8 weeks.

How long do these extensions last?
The hair will generally last between 6- 12 months depending on how well you look after it, most people including myself like to replace it every 6 months or so.

Is there any installation charge?
No it’s just the flat cost of $4.50 per strand.

Can I tone/colour these extensions?
You can dye/tone the extensions however you are advised not to bleach or perm them at all, as they chemicals used are much to harsh for the hair.

Can I curl/straighten/style these extensions?
You can do all the things you do with your natural hair except perm, chemically straighten or bleach it.

Are these extensions painful to install/remove?
Not at all.  There is no glue or bonding product used so the process does not pull and is pain free

Are these extensions comfortable to wear in permanently?
After the first couple of days you will not even notice they are there.

Can I still wear my hair up?
Yes

What do I need to do to maintain these extensions?
You will need to look after them gently and correctly following the aftercare instructions I provide.   I have included the aftercare instructions on this site for your perusal. Click here.

Why have some of my extensions fallen out?
The extensions will only fall out for two reasons.

  1. Silicone usage:  You will be advised by me and the aftercare instructions to not use silicone products.  If you do you may notice the extensions slipping, as the silicone gets under the micro rings and breaks the seal
  2. An abnormal growth spurt of your natural hair will cause you to shed lots of hair.  This may weaken the amount of hair the strands are holding onto, and they may slip out.

Both of these issues can be fixed rather quickly and easily by giving me a call.

Do you cut, style or colour my hair after?
I specialize in extensions only, so I install the hair any cutting or styling you want done would need to be organised elsewhere.

Do I need to have a consult first?

I keep all the hair in stock so only 1 appointment is necessary, so you don't have to come in before the date you want them installed. That said if you would like to view the hair before booking any appointment you are welcome to do so just contact me to organize.

Is there anything I should do before my appointment?

Now that you have made your appointment and are ready for your extensions please make sure you follow these simple steps:

  • Wash your hair on the same day as your appointment.
  • Use only shampoo, no conditioner or products.
  • Wear your hair as you normally do e.g. parted in the correct place, straightened if you normally would.

The address is located on the website on the “Contact” page.  Directions can be found using whereis.com.au.
Currently the method of payment is cash only.
